These are a selection of images from "Butterflies". A collection of 51 portraits of girls between the ages 9 to 13. A celebration of the transition from little girls to adolescents.
The images are a collaboration between Teena and the girls. They chose their own clothes and were very involved in the decisions governing the environments they were photographed in. Additionally, they were given the option of submitting a piece of writing/art work to accompany their portrait, (about 70% of them chose to contribute). This gave them the opportunity to add to the work in a very personal way.
